According to a recent article in the New York Times, hats are the new “tattoos.” And, we’re providing you the perfect opportunity to find the one that suits you!
Doors open at 3:00 PM so you can browse to buy your Kentucky derby hat or that hat or headband you’ve always needed! We’ll have men’s, ladies and youth hats on display for you to try on and purchase from local Nebraska milliner, Margie Trembley, and two of Margie’s award-winning milliner friends from New York City, with Ellen Christine Couture and Sally Caswell Millinery.
Margie Trembley, Milliner
Margie creates one of a kind couture hats for women and young girls, Derby Hats, and fascinators in her studio located in the Omaha metro area in Springfield, NE. Most of her hats blocked by hand and embellished are attached with needle and thread.
Her unique offerings have been featured in Vogue, the Churchill Downs website, NBC Sports and ABC during the Kentucky Derby, and HATalk e-magazine, a prestigious millinery publication. Her hats were also featured on a TV station in the U.K.
They have also been on the runway at Omaha Fashion Week, photographed in Paris, France for an online magazine, and enjoyed by their new owners for very special events. Her customers enjoy the privacy of her gallery which she closes for a consultation with them. She has studied with several award-winning international and prominent milliners from the US. She recently created an international Millinery exhibit at her gallery, Springfield Artworks featuring milliners from France, The U.K., Scotland, Australia, Ireland and the US. That exhibit opens April 10 and runs through June 10 this year.
Margie is a member of The Funtastic Fibers Group in Omaha and The Milliners Guild, a New York Milliners Organization.
Farm to Fork Meal Kicks off Spring Harvest
The Menu
Our menu will be created using locally sourced early Spring bounty, gathered from nearby gardeners and farmers.
We will be serving a slow food small plates meal. The menu may change slightly based on availability:
- Cheese, sausage, jams/jellies and artisan crackers
- Spring Onion Soup
- Mixed Greens
- Pork w/rhubarb chutney
- Spring greens vegetable medley
- Pesto bruschetta
- Lemon Balm Ice Cream
The Details
- Doors open at 3 PM to browse and buy hats.
- At 4 PM you’ll find a seat and hear a brief talk from Margie about hats, their history and a brief explanation of how they are made.
- Your “slow, leisurely” dinner service will follow
- $45 per person, limited tickets available
- Kimmel Orchard will be available with wine tastings and wine for sale.
- Inside/Outside Venue will be weather dependent
